Zebra Haworthia

Zebra Haworthia

Zebra Haworthia, or Haworthia attenuata is a small succulent from the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa. If you’re looking for something that stays tiny for your desk at work, this is your sign to pick up a haworthia! Clusters of spiky green stems with white zebra stripes poke up from the base in an energetic burst. They don’t get much bigger than 6-8” tall, perfect for a little open top terrarium!

Water once every two weeks and pot in a mix of cactus soil and sand. Make sure it’s not swimming in too large of a pot. There will be too much soil holding onto excess water and eventually lead to root rot and the death of your dry loving haworthia!

Bright indirect light will be your best bet to ensure its happiness. It grows naturally in the shrublands of Africa, protected from direct sun by its surrounding environment. Too much direct sun, especially in the afternoon, will burn the leaves.

If it’s happy enough to bloom, a tall shoot will arise from the clump, producing a trumpet shaped white flower with curling petals. It’s by no means showy, but the sign of a well cared for plant!
