Creeping Charlie

Creeping Charlie

Swedish Ivy or Plectranthus australis, best known as creeping charlie, is the perfect houseplant for the romantics out there. Layers of ruffled leaves drape poetically down their pots like feathered boas. They’re soft and delicate and also come in a variegated variety with lacy white edges. If you’re lucky enough to get them to bloom, you’ll be treated with gorgeous little orchid like flowers that pop out of the foliage like tiny pink dancers! While Swedish ivy is actually native to Southern Africa rather than Sweden, it happens to be a staple in Swedish homes. It’s also not an ivy, but a member of the mint family! This fast growing trailer is easy to grow and perfect for those of you without a green thumb. Give it a nice, moisture retentive potting soil and water it once a week when the pot feels light. Bright, but not direct light and a balanced liquid fertilizer are your best bet at nurturing it to flower!
