No matter where you are in the world, chances are you’ll run into some species of oxalis! Their habitats range from woodlands and meadows to tropical rainforests and alpine regions. While oxalis is otherwise known as the lucky shamrock, it’s pretty common to encounter one. Especially in the homes of many houseplant enthusiasts. While there are over 500 species in the Oxalidaceae family, the genus we commonly carry is the houseplant oxalis regnellii, or oxalis triangularis. Characterized by their wide, flat, triangle-shaped leaves and dainty white flowers, oxalis can’t be beat when it comes to adding uniqueness to your plant collection. They can be found in a pretty purple or green color. When exposed to too much sun or movement, the leaves fold back to protect themselves from damage. This is a good indicator of how they’re doing. With attention to moist soil and indirect light, this should be an easy houseplant or darling addition to your annual hanging basket.
